What is your favorite acne treatment, for adult acne prone skin?

Alѕο, whеn I wаѕ a teen I took acutane fοr three months аnd іt οnlу gοt rid οf mу mοѕt severe cystic acne, bυt I sill hаνе overall breakouts аll thе time, аnd I јυѕt turned 26. try a combination of acne wash w/benzoyl peroxide like benzac wash which you could use in the morning. It has a drying effect. then use loreal pore minimizing facial wash w/ salicylic acid at night. then use very mild face scrub like dermalogica w/ rice granules 1-2x/week to help get rid of debris.. apply acne gel to dry up pimples. However, if pimples are inflamed (red, large, with pus) visit your local derma for a cortisone injection for fast relief.
i have the exact same problem. i use everything by lancome. you can get it at any major department store. i have combination skin, so the cleanser i use wouldn’t be the same, but they have approx 8 different cleansers. i use a cleanser, then a toner for oily skin that has a powder in it, so it dries up the oil, then a nice oil free moisturizer. i also use a 2 minute self heating mask once or twice a week for oily skin. after doing this for a month, all of my breakouts have stopped and now i only get 1 or 2 pimples every couple of months and it’s usually when i’m stressed.
I have been using Mary Kay for 27 years. It’s awesome! I also have adult acne, but I have it under control.
27 years ago I was using acutane, ya it worked for a while, but MK works better! I use a cleanser, mask/scrub, freshner (with 2% salicyic acidin it), a moisturizer and a foundation. Ya it’s alot of steps, but I don’t break out, I have senitive skin and I have found that it’s the best for me.
You can get a free facial, and try either the classic basic like what I’m on (which is #3-for oily skin – minus the #3 mask, I use formula #2 as a scrub- helps with scarring). Or try the TimeWise set for oily skin. I just couldn’t use the moisturizer. It’s doesn’t cost you anything for the facial. Only for the skin care program that you buy.

Here are some REALLY good, and very inexpensive ways to treat most acne at home. Try each method (unless you’re allergic to the ingredients) until you find one that works best for you. Good luck =)
1. Put toothpaste on your acne before going to bed. (Make sure it is paste not gel). It should reduce the swelling of acne noticeably.
2. Dab egg whites on your acne and leave on for 20 minutes or overnight. It’s supposed to pull the infection out of the blemish.
3. Wash acne infected areas twice a day with warm salt water. This reduces oils in the skin and helps to dry the acne up without further agitation.
4. Use ice on acne before going to bed. This works best on pimples that have not yet formed a head. It reduces swelling and helps to prevent scarring.
5. Wash and dab acne with cotton balls that have been soaked in vinegar. Let dry; do not wash off immediately.
6. Place strawberries leaves over your acne and the alkalinity will help to reduce the swelling.

Do you know what is causing it and is there any effective acne treatment?
Studies show that an estimated 80 % percent of people experience acne at some point. No one knows exactly what the cause of acne is, but there are a few theories.
Let´s take a look at 7 of them:
1. Acne normally begins between the ages of eleven and thirteen.
This is true in both males and females due to changes in hormone levels. These hormones, called androgens, will enlarge the facial glands. The oil produced by the glands is known as sebum. The hair follicles shed dead cells too quickly and the cells and sebum form a blockage in the gland.
2. Pressure and rubbing from tight garments.
Adult with acne should avoid tight-collared shirts that might irritate the acne further. Adult athletes may notice an outbreak of acne from equipment such as backpacks or athletic helmets.
3. Acne can also be caused by genetics.
Studies have shown that a family history of acne can affect whether you have acne and the severity of it. So if your mother or father had acne as a teen, chances are that it will be a contributory factor to the cause of your acne.
4. Factors linked to women
Women have several factors that men don’t that can be linked to the cause of acne. Women go through several phases of life that cause their hormone levels to change. These changes can cause acne in adult women between two and seven days before their menstrual cycle.
5. Pregnancy and hormones
Pregnant women also experience a fluctuation in hormones.
Those who may have previously had little or no acne may see pimples during their pregnancy and for a time after the birth of the baby until the hormone levels return to normal.
6. Menopause and hormones
Menopause will cause changes in hormone levels for woman and can be a cause of acne. Women also tend to wear heavy makeup when experience an acne outbreak, which only worsens the problem by further clogging pores.
7.Stress.
Especially in adults, stress can be another cause of acne. When you are stressed, the hormone cortisol is produced.
Cortisol will worsen any acne you already have. To prevent stress-related acne, try relaxation and meditation.
Some adults experience acne from picking at blemishes on their skin. You should never pick at or squeeze a pimple, blackhead or any other blemish on your face.
This can only cause more acne and possibly an infection. When cleaning your face, avoid harsh facial cleansers(they cause the creation of more sebum) and scrubbing your face too vigorously.
Acne treatments
The sad part is that most of the acne products are sold over the counter for treatment.
Most over-the-counter acne treatments are topical and come in the form of a cream, soap, lotion or gel.
Acne products normally contain benzoyl peroxide (good for killing the bacteria and possibly reducing oil production), sulfur (helps eliminate blackheads and whiteheads) and/or salicylic acid (cuts down the speed of cell lose).
More severe cases may require prescription acne medicine that is topical or oral.
Oral acne medication can help reduce both the growth of the bacteria and inflammation of glands.
