The only thing that really worked for me is The Body Shop’s tea tree oil line. Even Boots has a tea tree oil line of products. I’ve also tried St. Ives’ apricot scrub which also helped tremendously. Infact, St. Ives also has a wonderful line of products and they’re affordable. You can find it at any drug store.
For on the spot treatment, I’ve used a whole ton and found the only thing that ever did help was Mario Badescu’s drying lotion and Proactiv’s clay mask. I hated Proactiv’s line of products except for the clay mask. Both are costly, but the drying lotion especially can last up to a year if you don’t use it generously.
Try getting blotting paper – it can absorb all the oil before it can cause any damage. Also, change your pillow case frequently and avoid touching your face as much as you can. That can prevent bacteria from entering your skin. It isn’t an instant cure, but at least it can help a bit.
I haven’t personally tried any home remedies, but check out both Michelle Phan and bubzbeauty on Youtube. They’ve got all these cool home remedies for your skin. I’ve tried many of their other tips and I absolutely swear by them. Bubzbeauty talked about this oatmeal mask that helped her get over a terrible allergic reaction she had where her face turned BRIGHT red. Many people in the comments seem to love that home made oatmeal mask.
Michelle Phan has an entire video on drug store products for skin care, part of her on the go series. I’ve tried the St. Ives line that she recommended, and any make up product she has recommended, so I fully trust her! In the videos, she explains what to use if your skin’s sensitive, oily etc.
If all else fails, visit a dermatologist. I did and was put on oral medication, but it helped tremendously.
Good luck! xx
Try any of these.
Exfoliate your face with baking soda. You can just use plain water or mix it with some gentle cleansing scrub. Rub into your face and then rinse well with water.
Use egg whites. Beat an egg white and then place on your face. Leave on until it dries and then peel off. Rinse with warm water.
Use aloe vera. This is a great way to cleanse your pores. Just rub some gently into your skin and let your skin absorb it. Leave it on.
